hi ho... am in school and bored, and i'm stuck in the com lab while
waiting for the com to finish burning my cds... yes, i know, piracy
sucks, but honestly, what am i supposed to do? buy another copy of
Puteri Gunung Ledang just so i can let my penpal watch it? or send my
copy to her only to have her airmail it back to me? i dont *think*
so...

anyway, i'm here in school to collect my module lists. yeah. so sad
right? i'm one week into my school holidays and already i'm panicking
about what books i need to read for next sem. it's a killer... i just
realised this module i really wanna take (Postmodernism and
Postcoloniality) is by prof patke... and dont get me wrong, by
everything i've heard, the man's brilliant... just that its a bit
intimidating... he's got a reputation for being brilliant, but also a
reputation for being a wee liddle bit scary....

and i am SO not doing 19th century... i mean, victorian poetry?!?!
wuthuring heights?!?! the mill on the floss?!?! great expectations?!?!
okay, so maybe great expectations isnt so bad, i dont mind reading
that... but THE MILL ON THE FLOSS?!?!

so that's out. a BIG out.

and i want to do the dante module cos its the only figgin level 4000
module available, and its my second sem in year 3 and i'm starting to
panick cos i dont have any level 4000 modules yet. and i need 7 if i
want to do my honours...

...BUT the dante module clashes with the 'singapore literature in
context' and it looks so interesting.... *groan*... awwww......

and i really want to do a philo module next sem, but i cant cos i've
filled up all my available slots... and no way am i taking 5 lit mods
and an EXTRA sisth philo... haiz... which means i have to throw away
one of the lit mods i want...

maybe i should just leave out Dante? i mean, i dont even know if i AM
going to do my honours... and if i dont its just a waste taking a level
4000 if i can get away with a level 3000... oh, plus the fact that the
Dante module list is the only one not yet released. oh dear.

and ooooooh, there is one philo module that looks so yummy! check it
out, METAPHYSICS: Broadly speaking, Metaphysics is the study of
fundamental conceptual categories, including that of space and time,
appearance and reality, mind and body, substance and existence, objects
and their properties, and God. These concepts pertain to the structure
of "ultimate reality" and generate perplexing philosophical issues, a
sample of which will be discussed in this course. Some topics: the
problem of universals, paradoxes of the infinite, the concept of God,
paradoxes of time travel, problems of cause and effect, free will,
fatalism and determinism, the mind-body problem, realism and idealism,
existence, identity, and individuation, essentialism, the relation
between logic and metaphysics.

oh hecky. maybe i should just take the four 4000 lits and take
metaphisics? or should i just try my luck with Dante, and if it doesnt
get allocated to me in my first round of bidding then i'll just drop
the idea and go for metaphysics? yeah.... i think so. *sigh*... i
really want metaphysics. maybe i can take up metaphysics in the
add/drop week? so i'd go for all the 5 lits in the first week and see
which i want to drop for meta after the first introductory module.

okie. CD burning is completed! gotta go now. i need to pop by the deans
office to clarify that YES i AM a year 3 student, not a year 2 student.
or maybe not. maybe i shall just be lazy. i mean, isnt it *good* that
they think i'm year 2? *shrugs* oh well. gotta go now. byes!
