hey all,

my friends and i are organizing a performative poetry competition and staging a concert for a neighbourhood primary school, and we're looking for volunteers to join us. If anyone can contribute (ie: is good at) singing, dance, drawing, writing, playing a musical instrument, any other performative or non-performative art form it would be most welcome.

anyone interested in joining the group? we need more members to stage a concert. manpower and creative (ie: crazy, wacky) ideas are also very welcome! and even if you cant do anything, we will still appreciate your PRESENCE and LOVING, GUIDING SPIRIT!! lolx!

so... anyone interested?

war of the worlds-- go watch!

i just came back from war of the worlds and loved it to bits. i
wouldnt say this was speilberg's best film, but it felt like a
culmination of everything he's done so far. its almost like a collage
of everything we know and love him for, but a stand-alone story at the
same time. there were bits which reminded me of Saving Private Ryan,
bits that reminded me of E.T, bits that reminded me of A.I., bits that
reminded me of Jurassic Park... the list goes on. its like a collage,
but sill a story in it's own right.

and what i loved most about it was that it felt like a completion of
his story as a director. in all the ones i can remember, he gives us a
hopeful ending despite the tragedy. but the tragedy is still there,
and no matter how hopeful we are, we just cannot forget the tragedy.
we cannot forget the pointless sacrifices, we cannot forget the
shattered dreams, we cannot forget the waste. but War of The Worlds
was different. it's not tragic, it's triumphant. it's the whole idea
that whatever happens, nothing is ever in vain. that we're all here as
part of a greater purpose, and that nobody has lived or died in vain.
that tragic as it is, this was an episode, and it's over, and nobody
has lived or died in vain.

it was like reading dante, and seeing so many wrong things in inferno,
and so many wrong things in purgatory, and then reading paradiso and
getting resolution and feeling at peace. i wept so hard at the ending.
the last two minutes just rocked me to the core.

ps: Miranda Otto has a trademark smile. i dont think i can ever see
her in any role and not see her as Eowyn when she flashes that
trademark smile...

Jika kau bercinta lagi, cintalah sepenuhnya,
Jika kau bercinta lagi, jagalah kau hatinya...

I took my good clothes, and a change of clothes for the road, and some
dancing-costumes. My money and my jewels were in my belt-wallet; there
too, in case of mischance, I put my hand-mirror and combs, and my
eye-paint with it's brushes. I never used carmine. No one should, who
has the true Persian looks. It is vulgar to colour ivory.

Alleycats - Jika Kau Bercinta

Jika kau bercinta lagi
Cintalah sepenuhnya
Jika kau bercinta lagi
Jagalah kau hatinya

Kau yang memilihnya
Tanpa memikirkan tentang diri ku

Kini aku hanya dapat berdoa
Agar berbahgia kau di sampingya

Aku tak dapat menghalang
Engkau punya kemahuan sendiri
Biar ku hidup mengenang peristiwa
Yang tak dapat ku lupa

Kini aku hanya dapat berdoa
Agar berbahagia kau disampingnya
Selamat tinggal
Aku mengundurkan diri.. Aku mengundurkan diri

(lyrics nicked from eusz's blog)

MOOD ANALYSIS TEST RESULTS

Your mind is never at rest. You are continually striving to influence all those about you. Maybe you are trying too hard. Take it easy - remember, 'Everything comes to those who wait'.

Recently you have been experiencing considerable mental anguish and turmoil. You are bored and discontent. Nothing seems to be going right for you. Even your relationships aren't working out and you don't quite know which way to turn.

The present situation, not of your making, is forcing you to compromise. You will have to hold back and forgo some of your hopes, dreams and aspirations.

For whatever the reason, you find it extremely difficult to sustain relationships - that is to sustain them in the manner that you would wish. You are a very gentle sort of person, full of feeling, sensitivity and susceptible to love and affection, looking and longing for a partner with whom you can enjoy 'All things bright and beautiful' - someone with whom you can seek out the more esoteric things of life. But up to now this person has only existed in your imagination. You are very choosy, appreciative, refined and extremely artistic in temperament and it is your hope to seek others who will allow you to form and express your own taste and judgement and who at the same time may assist you in your intellectual or artistic growth.

Matters are not all that they would appear to be and you are critical of the existing conditions which you feel are confused and disorganized. You are therefore looking for a modus operendi which will simplify the situation so that you will be able to see the 'trees in the woods'.

click here to take the test.

Malaysia Trip- Day 1

Image hosted by Photobucket.com

I am on a 3h boat ride to Taman Negara and i get a distinct feeling that i am in LoTR... i'm travelling down the river and sudenly i catch a glimpse of misty mountains through a bend in the river. Man! i can almost hear the theme music playing in my ears! i fear to leave the camera on though, in case the batteries go flat. =S i really should have used better batteries. the batteries for my toothbrush died this morning.

the river is truly beautiful. it is a perfect day for a boat ride. the weather is nice and cool, but not so cold as to be uncomfortable. 35min into the boat rid, my nose is starting to get cold, but its nothing too uncomfortable. it's not going to fall off or anything.

i just saw the misty mountains again, but not from such a beautiful angle this time so i didnt snap a photo. just now's view was awesome, but i was too slow to catch it on film. =S

the sun is comming up now behind the cloud, and if not for the wind, the weather would be uncomfortably humid. the long boat stopped for awhile, just now to talk with the driver of a boat comming in the opposite direction, and while we stopped, man it was humid! the air was still, and the sun was reflecting off the water making it so uncomfortably hot!

Image hosted by Photobucket.com

a beautiful bird flies overhead. i wish i had a digi so i can carelessly take photos, but my digi is spoilt so i'm using a film camera, and it costs a bomb to develop.

rapids! or rather, the stone type things sticking out of the water. the boatman knows the place well, but still he needs to keep a sharp lookout for the rocks.

i wonder how old this river is. there is so much meandering and sand build-up on the banks. and whole sand islands have formed. not huge or anything, but they're there, and they are pretty impressive anyhow.

the sun has disappeared, and it's lovely once more. one thing odd tho. just now i thought i saw a place from a dream i had a few years ago. its starting to scare me, the sort of deja vu i get from my nightmares. i tend to have normal dreams set in familliar places, and nightmares set in unfamilliar places. and ever so often, i come across the places that i saw in my nightmares a few years later.

the place i saw was a place on the riverbank, sloped down, and there were two tracks down to the water. hailway down there was a tree and the two roads converged at the front of the tree and made it's way down to the river. and i remember it was from my 2nd latest nightmare when i was a kampong girl running away from a man who wanted to kill me. come to think of it, most of my nightmares are about running away from a man trying to kill me, and who has convinced others into wanting me dead too.

the sands that have built up on the riverbanks, and sand dunes look so soft and white and inviting. i wish the boat could stop as far as to wade up and play in the white sand. the sun lights up the green so prettily. i almost feel like i'm in England again, with such lush, GREEN greenery and such a bright yellow sun.

Image hosted by Photobucket.com

we passed through a shaded patch of river, followed by a patch of lorien-type trees. howsit spelled? mellorn? mellyrn? all i remember is the Ms and Ls and Ns. the yellow sun makes it surreal. i wish i had been quick enough to snap that too, but my brain is too sleepy to work fast. its past noon, and i have been travelling since seven last night. some bridge somewhere collapsed, so we had to have out train ride disrupted and have a bus transfer to the next train station to resume the ride. needless to say, did not get much sleep. =S

Other Taman Negara Photos

Image hosted by Photobucket.com the Orang Asli village we visited. you'd be surprised, most of the native aborigines speak malay fluently. this is the group outside the hut meeant for young unmarried men. the young unmarried women sleep together in a seperate hut. apparently, you sleep in a community hut until you are married, and only then do you get a house of your own. (talk about mendirikan rumantangga... hmmm... but malays)
